Doctrine and Covenants 4:3

"Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work" -Doctrine and Covenants 4:3

My Story

Growing up, I told myself that if I weren't married by the time I could serve a full-time mission, that I would go. Then the age change (President Monson Announces Mission Age Change) happened. Needless to say, that took me by surprise! It took me awhile, but I decided that I really wanted to serve. Around that time, I was diagnosed with a variety of different disorders. Near the end of my first semester of college, I was having 30+ seizures a day due to these disorders. I still really wanted to serve a full-time mission, but I couldn't even make it across my apartment, let alone anything more substantial. I kept feeling like now was the time to start my mission papers though. I repeatedly brushed the feelings off though, because it seemed impossible, as I was having over 30 seizures a day. However, every time I prayed about it, I felt prompted to go talk to my Bishop (Presides over a local congregation), so on January 11th, 2015, I started the recommendation process to serve a mission. January 16th, 2015 was my last seizure for four and a half months. Coincidence? I think not. Miracles happen. I am living proof.

There was still a LONG ways to go before I received my mission call though. I had to go 4 months seizure-free for one specialist to write his letter of recommendation, and I was told many times that serving a mission would be out of the question. Many miracles happened, though, and eventually I was told that I had been asked to serve what is called a "Two-Transfer Mission", wherein I will serve as a full-time missionary for two transfers, or about 3 months, as my health and stability are analyzed. I was assigned to labor in the Utah Orem Mission. After these 3 months, I could possibly be reassigned, or be honorably released.

Either way, I am BEYOND excited to serve my Heavenly Father and His children in Orem, I know that there were so many miracles that have brought me to this point, and Heavenly Father has called ME, a 19 year old with so little knowledge and experience, to be in Orem. I hope as you read my weekly emails, they can bring you closer to Him, and that you will be able to recognize the miracles in YOUR life.
